Born (1949), living and working in Castelo Branco,
Portugal. Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa in the late 60s, working for a degree,
and time goes by! Alexandre Frade Correia became a determined eclectic researcher,
investigating techniques, working on new ideas throughly, trying out different
materials,in an endless way... Originality and technique: the main process for variety and quality of a masterpiece, taking advantage of a huge choice of patterns to innovate, together with new experiments(sometimes rather tricky!) in order to increase the frame of his work. Reality is always there, but in a jigsaw puzzle. He reorganizes the setting thus recriating it, with no engagement to actual facts. Besides, final results aren't always connected with a previous planning. There's a purpose in such a procedure: the challenge to provide reflection upon the visual effects coming from the picture. In short, to lead to the discovery of a soul within each painting. Both shape and colour become abstract stating an open meaning but keeping a few hints of both figurative and abstract elements. When is a piece finished? Never! There's always a feeling of something not ready, yet... Back to research. Maybe an answer to that specific problem comes, after all. And the initial planning changes, one way or another.
